Bonds- The information you need
Being arrested for a DWI can be a terrifying experience and you may be so frightened you don’t know exactly what you should take care of next. The first thing that you should take care of is getting yourself or your loved one out of jail. Jail release can become a complicated issue if you are not careful.
Once you have been seen by a judge, they will then assign a bail amount that you have to pay. There are three types of bonds that can be used to take care of your bail amount. You should pick the type of bond that is going to work with your specific situation.
The first type of bond is what is called a personal bond. This type of bond is just a promise to the court that once you leave the court, you promise to come back on your assigned day for court. You are also promising that you won’t leave town for any reason.
The second type of bond is called a cash bond which is exactly how it sounds. When the judge issues you a bail amount, you have someone bring all of the money up to the jail house to pay the amount. While paying this amount of money, you are also required to come back to court on your assigned court day to see the judge for your hearing.
The third type of bond is called a bail bond. This type of bond is often useful for those who don’t have enough money for a cash bond. You are required to go find a bail bondsman. A bail bondsman will loan you the money and will also require you to show up at your next court hearing that they will assign you. Keep in mind that they will also require a fee for loaning you the money.
